Janne Schra is an artist from Amsterdam.
She initially gained attention as the lead singer and songwriter of Room Eleven, a band with gold and platinum albums: Six White Russians And A Pink Pussycat (2006) and Mmm... Gumbo? (2008). The band toured internationally, performing in cities such as Tokyo, Johannesburg, and at the Montréal Jazz Festival from 2004 to 2009.
Since 2010, Schra has released five solo albums: India Lima Oscar Victor Echo You (2010), Janne Schra (2013), Ponzo (2015), OK (2018), and The Heart is Asymmetrical (2023). She also explored singing in Dutch on Vasalis with The Noordpool Orchestra, and the Dutch jazz album "In De Regen" with her band De Vogels, for which they won an Edison Jazz Award in 2022.
Throughout her career, Schra has collaborated with artists including Benny Sings, Kraak & Smaak, Benjamin Herman, Sister Bliss, Dayna Kurtz and De Staat , as well as orchestras such as Metropole Orkest, Residentie Orkest Den Haag. She has recorded at Capitol Studios (LA), Kaleidoscope Sound (NY), in Sweden, and at Konk Studios (London).
Currently, Schra is working on a new album with guitarist Laurens Radstake. They are recording with Albin de la Simone (Pomme) and Raphaël Chassin Nouvelle Vague in Paris.
