Catastrophe & Cure have been at the top of their game for over a decade now. Since the release of their debut album Like Crazy Doves – which earned them Austria’s most recognized music prize, the FM4 Amadeus Award – in 2012, the band has been a fixture in the Austrian independent music scene.
In 2015 Catastrophe & Cure broke new ground with their second album Undeniable/Irresistible, opening their indie rock aesthetic to electronic influences.
With their 2020 album Somewhere Down the Line the quintet has rekindled its old love for guitar-driven songwriting, seemingly heading back to their roots, but nonetheless arriving at something completely different.
In April 2025, the new album In the Wind will finally be released and Catastrophe & Cure will go on tour again! On In the Wind, the quintet works its way through various sounds rooted in 90s alternative rock while always sounding modern and never derivative.
The title track is an uncut indie rock gem and the perfect soundtrack for a road trip, Like a River offers a ballad-like verse and a dry-as-dust grunge chorus, Worn Out and Faded fuses jangly guitars and catchy synthesizer melodies into a driving dream pop song that culminates in a gentle duet with Luca Celine Mueller from the band GARDENS, while Kick the Habit surprises with heavily distorted guitars and a distinct shoegaze vibe.
Even after so many years, Catastrophe & Cure are still a force to be reckoned with.
