Rooksein is a music group founded in Potchefstroom, South Africa in early 2018. The group consists of three members: Megan Danner, Dian André Maritz, and Renier van der Westhuizen. The creation of Rooksein was motivated by musician Renier van der Westhuizen's desire to make good music in Potchefstroom. He then brought in two other musicians with the same vision to create music that has meaning. Rooksein started with the goal of turning heads and making good, meaningful Afrikaans music in a generation where this type of music is declining. The group not only performs Afrikaans music but also includes various English songs and original compositions in their repertoire, as they believe it is important to maintain a healthy balance.
